The Amtrak version of the Empire Builder in 1973 was a mixture of Northern Pacific, Great Northern and Burlington Northern cars. The “Builder” is a rainbow of color as she crosses Surprise Creek after emerging from the west portal of the Cascade Tunnel at Secenic, Washington.
